your recordings stay on your phone. nothing about a recording leaves it unless you share it. echo has no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and we never sell data.
recordings, their matches, notes, where you caught them, and the fingerprints echo uses to tell you "you caught this before" are stored only on your iphone.
to identify a track, echo sends a short audio signature (not the recording) to apple's shazamkit. if you added fallback services, a few seconds of audio may be sent to them for the same purpose.
sharing puts these in echo's public icloud (cloudkit) database, visible to everyone using echo:
cloudkit links these to an anonymous icloud user id. we never see your apple id, email or phone number.
to find links and suggest music, echo sends track names (no identifiers) to itunes, deezer, bandcamp and spotify, and a summary of the music you catch, with no identifier, to typesafe.ai for ranking.
reports and messages you send through echo are read by us to keep the echo safe. we remove content and people who break the terms.
settings → your data → delete everything removes your recordings from the phone and everything you put on the echo. you can also remove single posts. anything left: email dxnxixlmail@gmail.com and we'll erase it within 30 days.
depending on where you live (for example under the gdpr), you can ask to access, correct, export or delete your data. email dxnxixlmail@gmail.com.
echo isn't meant for children under 13.
